It is with deepest regret and sorrow that we announce the passing of MCVFD Senior Firefighter Robert “Rob” Lahar II.

Rob started volunteering with Maxwell Fire around 2016. It was very early on that his potential to be a great firefighter and great mentor was realized. A veteran Marine with a heart the size of Texas, what a combination. That combination made what we believe is one of the most altruistic men we have ever had to privilege to know.

Rob often saw potential in people that the rest of us couldn’t see. In fact, he had taken many men and women not only under his wing but into his home to help see them on their way. Anyone that knew Rob knew that’s just what he does.  He truly embodied altruism in all ways as he constantly gave to others without any expectation of ever getting anything in return. He showed unselfish concern for others and spent many upon many hours serving our community and he did it with pride. Above all that, he was an excellent father that loved his children more than anything on this earth.

Rob not only provided mentorship and guidance to the men and women of Maxwell Fire but as the years went by he became a father figure within our little fire family. We believe that he had a heart that was just too big for this world and that most people are better people after knowing him.

Thank you so much for being such an amazing person. Thank you for your dedicated service to our community and thank you for serving our country. We love you and we will miss you.

We will take it from here.
